C. René Rogers is a graduate of Regent University School of Law, Virginia Beach, VA. While at Regent, she experienced a rich diversity of educational experiences. René completed course work at the University of Strasbourg in France where she studied International Human Rights and Civil Liberties. René also completed course work at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel where she studied the legal aspects of the tense relationship between the country of Israel and their Palestinian neighbors. René spent a semester during her law school education studying in Washington, D.C. under the tutelage of the attorneys at the American Center for Law and Justice, which is one of the most accomplished First Amendment and religious liberties appellate law firms in the country.
During her legal education, René held several positions that have developed her legal skills. In 2009, René clerked for the Honorable Beth Lewis Maze, Chief Circuit Judge, Second Circuit, in Montgomery County, Kentucky. René also contributed her legal skills to the less fortunate by participating in a legal internship with the Christian Legal Aid of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. While in D.C., René brought her business skill to bear by assisting in the development and establishment of a fourth legal aid clinic that is sponsored by the National Community Church. Additionally, René partnered with several students and the Dean of Regent Law to organize and establish The Center for Global Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law whose mission is to provide legal services to individuals around the world who cannot seek justice on their own. René has worked with Virginia L. Lawson & Associates, P.S.C throughout her law school career and now holds a full time position.
Prior to attending law school René completed her education in unique fashion. Following graduation from Bath County High School, she began post secondary education at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY, but left school to start a family. However, after raising her son, René returned to Eastern Kentucky University to complete her degree. René was the first graduate to receive a Certificate in Real Estate Studies from Eastern Kentucky University. Then while working and attending college, René earned a Bachelors of Science in University Studies with a concentration in Real Estate and Business from Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky, where she graduated Cum Laude.
René has been very active in the real estate industry in Kentucky for many years having earned a Real Estate Sales Associates license in 1986, a Real Estate Broker’s license in 1990, and an Associate Appraisers license in 2005. In 2006, René opened Commonwealth Realtors, LLC in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Before opening her own firm, René worked with Century 21, Tom Perry Realty, Caswell Prewitt Realty, Inc., and New Century Realty, Inc. René trained as an Associate Real Estate Appraiser under Dr. Seth Gakpo of Apex Valuation Group, Inc. René has also taught Real Estate Pre-License Law courses at Maysville Community College in Maysville, Kentucky and Real Estate Continuing Education at Lexington Bluegrass Association of Realtors in Lexington, Kentucky.
René has always enjoyed giving to her community and has served as president of many community service organizations to include: the Mt. Sterling Rotary International, the Mapleton Elementary Parent Teacher Association and Sterling Homemakers of Montgomery County, Kentucky. René’s professional affiliations include: the National Association of Realtors®, Kentucky Association of Realtors®, Lexington Bluegrass Association of Realtors®, Real Estate Educators Association, and Kentucky Real Estate Educators Association. René is an active member in several legal associations to include: the American Bar Association, the Christian Legal Society, and Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity.
René currently is looking forward to taking the Kentucky Bar Exam and beginning her practice of law in Kentucky, with an emphasis in real estate law.
